Faculty Resources

Special Collections & Archives (SCA) provides instruction that supports curricula with broad and in-depth high-impact learning experiences based in primary source literacy and archival research methods that emphasize inquiry, exploration, and reflection. Primary sources related to class or course topic are pulled for the class discussion and learning experience.

Examples of SCA classes include:

  • Introduction to Special Collections (first year students or first time users)
  • Introduction to The Hallowed Ground Project (first year students or first time users)
  • Primary Sources and Archival Research Class (students who have archival experience such as second year students or above)
  • Class Research Sessions (students who have archival experience such as second year students or above)

Additionally, the Special Collections staff can provide individual or group research sessions.

SCA has partnered with various departments including Peace Studies, History, Africana Studies, Historic Preservation,  Professional Writing, Marketing, Environmental Studies/Urban Sustainability, Literary Studies, Visual & Material Culture, Religion & Justice, Women, Gender, & Sexuality Studies, FYS, and the Master of Arts in Cultural Sustainability program.
