One of the first steps to starting your research is making sure you're ready to start gathering information. Make sure you have a good system in place for organizing your information.
File Naming tips:
Create names that are less than 25 characters
Use underscores_or_dashes-instead-of-spaces
Avoid special characters
Use YYYYMMDD or YYYY-MM-DD for dates
Use leading zeros so numbered documents sort correctly (01, 02, 10, 11...or 001, 002, 010, 100)
Don't use the file names assigned by computer (Doc1, Doc4)
Use more than one attribute (date, topic, course, etc.)
Use descriptive words, avoid articles (the, a) and conjunctions (and, to)
Add tags to indicate versions or edits (V1, V2, _crop, _bw, _EMJ-edits)
