Group Study Rooms

Group Study rooms in the library are available on a first-come first-served basis for drop-in group study, computing, video/DVD viewing, and small and large group meetings.  Rooms may also be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.  For Library room reservations, please complete the form found on the Library Office door (4th floor) or contact Kristen Welzenbach at (410) 337-6370. Room reservations are either listed in the weekly room schedule or posted daily.

Some guidelines regarding room reservations and usage in the Library:

  • Reservations can be made by any member of the Goucher Community-staff, faculty, and students-who are undertaking Goucher business. Reservations for private functions, like private parties, need to be made through the Events, Scheduling, and Facility Rentals (410-769-5054).
  • Reservations must be made during the work week (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm) in order to be entered into the schedule.
  • When reserving a space, please provide your name, how many in your group, purpose, and class (if applicable).
  • Students can reserve a room for meetings, study groups, or projects, but these reservations cannot exceed three hours.
  • Please try to make room reservations at least 24 hours in advance.
  • If a room is empty, your group may use it on a first-come, first-served basis.  You must vacate a reserved room at the appropriate time.
  • Study rooms may not be reserved for weekly time-slots. Exceptions can be made at the discretion of Library staff.
  • Room reservations cannot be made for DVD/video viewing outside of face-to-face teaching activities (see Viewing Media for more information).
  • Study room reservations are not accepted during the Reading Period and Finals Week.
  • Rooms are not locked and are available whenever the library is open.
  • Please be courteous to others and recycle or dispose of any trash before you leave.

A group is two or more people, one of whom must be a Goucher student, faculty, or staff member. Groups have priority over individuals, and one member of a group may not "hold" a room for others.

Individuals may be asked to vacate group study rooms when groups are in need of collaborative study space. Individuals seeking a quiet space are encouraged to use the Quiet Floors (2nd or 4th Floor) in the stacks.
