Researching the Literature of Education

Researching the Literature of Education

When doing a literature search on an Education topic, keep these three principles in mind:

1. Start your research early.  The Goucher Library has a very good collection of books, electronic databases and journals to support research on Education.  If your research retrieves books and articles that Goucher doesn't have, you can get these materials through interlibrary loan; however, interlibrary loan materials can take a week or two to arrive.

2. Use the various tabs at the top of this page to help guide your search for articles, books, test reviews, statistics and so forth. See the smaller boxes to the left and right on some pages for useful nuggets of information.

3. Don't hesitate to ask for help.

a. You can call the reference desk in the library at 410-337-6212 anytime during desk hours without an appointment. Click here for research help desk hours.

b. You can also ask a quick question or request a more in-depth and individualized research consultation by sending an email to Margie Simon, the Graduate Education Librarian.

New RefWorks LibGuide from Proquest

Saving to RefWorks from a Webpage - brief tutorial

If you are already a RefWorks user, you have the option of switching to Proquest's New RefWorks or staying with the legacy (old) version, which is expected to retire in January 2018. You may import references from a legacy RefWorks account during the new account set-up or at any time from within the new account. Importing references into the new platform will not affect your legacy RefWorks account.  Please be aware that the Write-n-Cite functions are not compatible between the two products.  If you have started writing a paper with the legacy RefWorks, you should use legacy RefWorks to finish that paper.
