After Goucher: alumnae/alumni services

What to do when you're cut loose from Goucher's fabulous library resources.

Friends of the Goucher College Library

Focus, the Friends' twice-yearly newsletter, is a great way to keep up with what's happening at the Goucher College Library.  You can learn more about the Friends and access the newsletter on the Friends' page. and you can support their work by checking the Friends of the Library box on the college's online giving form.  The library's subscription to LibGuides is just one way the Friends help library services at Goucher move forward.

Databases from home!

The Goucher College Library provides alumnae and alumni remote access to several of our subscription databases and electronic products: Annual Reviews, Mango Languages, Project MUSE, RefWorks, and Sage Journals. Here are the instructions for that access:

  • If you graduated in the last few years and have a Goucher email address you can simply use those credentials (username/password).  If you need to reset your password please visit the Password Management page.
  • If you graduated earlier than 2005, contact the Goucher IT help desk at or (410) 337-6322. Tell them when you graduated and that you would like access to the library ALUM-ACCESS databases.
  • The help desk will notify you when your credentials have been established.
  • Once you are set up, remember to start your research from links in the list below -- this enables the proxy server that connects you to us.

For questions about database use, contact For issues with your Goucher credentials, contact the IT help desk.

JSTOR, through their Register & Read program, makes available the archives of more than 1,900 journals for limited free reading by the public. You can sign up for a JSTOR account and read up to three articles for free every two weeks.  Recent additions bring more than five million articles from nearly 800 scholarly societies, university presses, and academic publishers into the Register & Read offerings.  Content includes scholarship in the arts and humanities, economics and politics, and in mathematics and other sciences.  In addition, JSTOR Early Journal Content includes nearly 500,000 articles from more than 200 journals published prior to 1923 in the United States and prior to 1870 elsewhere.

Other Databases

We're not able to provide remote access to subscription databases other than those listed on this page because licensing agreements with the publishers limit such access to current students, faculty and staff.  You can use them on the computers in the Goucher library; you’ll need to email articles to yourself because printing won’t be available.  You can do all this at most other academic libraries too.  Check out their websites to see what they offer.  And don't forget to investigate what your local public library has to offer.
